The Buccaneers are without starting cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting due to a hamstring injury. SMB did not play against the Eagles in Week 6 as he was on Injured Reserve.
Note that the Bucs did not activate running back Leonard Fournette from Injured Reserve, so he is out today along with No. 2 running back Ronald Jones. Running back Giovani Bernard was activated off Injured Reserve, along with linebacker Lavonte David. Bernard had just eight carries during the regular season. Ke'Shawn Vaughn is the leading running back available today for the Bucs.
Starting cornerback Carlton Davis III was added to the injury report on Friday, but he is active.
Eagles starting defensive end Josh Sweat and starting right guard Nate Herbig are inactive for Sunday afternoon’s wild card game from Raymond James Stadium.
Both Sweat (illness) and Herbig (ankle) came into the weekend listed as questionable.
The Eagles released a statement before Sunday's game explaining that Sweat was admitted to the hospital Tuesday night and was treated for a "life-threatening" situation.
Veteran Sua Opeta will start in Herbig's place. Opeta has some experience but his experience at right guard is limited.
During early warmups, Herbig watched in casual gear as Opeta, in game pants, warmed up.
Defensive end Josh Sweat was admitted to the hospital Tuesday night and underwent an emergency procedure to address a life-threatening issue, the Philadelphia Eagles announced Sunday.
As a result, Sweat won't play in the team's wild-card game Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"Josh and our medical team did everything possible to help him return to play," the Eagles said. "He improved every day, but it was determined by the doctors today that he was not quite ready."
Philadelphia listed Sweat as questionable Friday. The team said his procedure wasn't for a ruptured appendix, per Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Sweat, 24, racked up 45 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks during the regular season.
The budding pass-rusher signed a three-year, $40-million contract extension last September.
